Description
This hand-tooled Mamluk box of nickel-plated brass was made exclusively for DAI. The top is etched and enamel painted with an Arabic inscribed blazon which reads, Glory to our master, the Sultan al-Malik al-Ashraf Abu’l-Nasir Qaitbay, may his victory be glorious. Inspirational object: LNS 190 C is a ceramic tile with epigraphic blazon of Sultan Qaitbay, Egypt from the late 15th century.
