This nickle-plated brass box combines two elements of design from different ancient objects. Exclusive of design for DAI, it was made in India. Inspirational objects: LNS 1524 M a-b is a pair of gilded silver bowls from South Asia, Indo-Greek or Indo-Scythian period, 2nd century BCE. The base takes its inspiration from LNS 316 S; a chlorite bowl decorated with a single tightly coiled serpent. Possibly southeastern Iran, mid 3rd millennium BCE.
