This 2-piece metal tray & glass cover were exclusively made for DAI, inspired by the extraordinarily artistic ‘animated’ naskhi inscription in which the letters have human and animal-head terminals: al ‘iz wal Iqbal wa al-dawla wa al-nasr [min Allah]. Glory, prosperity, good fortune, and sustenance [from God] Inspirational object: LNS 1150 M is a brass dish with calligraphy proclaiming blessings to the owner. Written in animated nashki script, it is from the early 13th century East Iranian world, cast, with lathe-cut details, soldered and engraved.
