Description
The design on this hand-crafted, exclusively made wood Calyx box, was inspired by two of the most spectacular silver bowls in the collection. The base is of wood, with legs and a polished brass top that has been etched and enamel painted. Inspirational objects: LNS 1232 M & LNS 1233 M are a pair of large gilded silver bowls with calyx medallions surrounded by dolphins from the Seleucid Empire / Bactrian Kingdom, third to mid-second century BCE. They were hammered from silver sheet, with the central calyx medallion and dolphins hammered separately, chased gilded and soldered to the bowl.
