Description
This Brooch is inspired by a lotus flower design in a manuscript from the 14th century CE. Made exclusively for DAI, it is 24Kt gold plating on pewter.
Inspiration object: LNS 59MS, one of the oldest Persian illustrated manuscripts is a copy of this work dating to the time of the Ilkhanid ruler, Ghazan Khan (1295-1304 CE). The folio depicts two onagers (wild asses) running amidst oversized plants beneath a curtain-like sky with a moon surrounded by stars or planets in gold. A petal baseline borders the lower edge of the illustration. Baghdad, Tabriz or Kashan, early 14th century CE.
