Description

This exquisite Mughal Taviz (amulet) pendant is made of cabochon spinels, wrapped in 21 Kt gold and soldered together to emulate the traditional kundan technique. It was made in India exclusively for DAI. Inspirational object: LNS 1161 J is a pendant of Tavis (amulet) form, fabricated from gold; worked in the kundan technique and set with rubies. It dates from the 1st half of the 17th century in Deccan or Mughal India. Kundan is a uniquely Indian technique of joining hyper-purified gold in the form of foil, through pressure alone, to form a molecular bond at room temperature, obviating soldering.
