Chinese Art in The al-Sabah Collection
The Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah is the cultural organisation created to support the activities of The al-Sabah Collection (TaSC). In Cultural Season 30, which runs September 2025 through May 2026. That support includes implementing three new exhibitions, with one highlighting objects from China in the collection. The works featured in this calendar are drawn from the TaSC exhibition, Distant and Close: Chinese art in Kuwait, celebrating both the creative visions shared by Islamic and Chinese artisans and the unique cultural and creative inspirations of each.
In recognition of 2026 being the Chinese zodiac “Year of the Horse”, many objects depicting horses have been included.
