Islamic Carnelian Bead Necklace

Description

This necklace is inspired by a pair of earrings with addorsed bird design from 8th century CE. Made exclusively for DAI, it is 24 Kt gold plating on pewter with carnelian beads necklace.

Inspirational object: LNS 55J is an earring that belongs to the early Islamic Period. The main design consists of a realistic palm trunk that supports a stylized tree bearing half-palmettes and trefoils. In the centre is a heart-shaped unit enclosing a pair of adorned birds with half-palmette wings. Syria(?) 8th century CE.
