Description
This hand-tooled bowl is made of polished brass, exclusively for DAI in India. The etched design was inspired by a pair of silver bowls from The al Sabah Collection. Inspirational object: LNS 1352 M is Pair of hemispherical silver bowls, from Syria, Pre-Islamic/2nd Century CE. They have a plain interior and are decorated around the rim with a beaded border and petals, just below this is an engraved Sabaean inscription. On the base is a rosette with overturned petals from which radiate gilded panels filled with floral scrolls, and in-between which alternate large lanceolate leaves engraved with an imbrication pattern, and series of fluted petals lobed at the top.
